Vastuullisuus

Our customer promise

At Salla Wilderness Park we take you to discover the nature of Lapland. Our trips are made without engines – you will be taken to Salla by reindeer or huskies. We use low-emission four-stroke snowmobiles only for essential tasks, such as ensuring safety on husky trips.

During the excursions, our guides tell our guests about the nature, animals and Finnish everyman’s rights in Lapland. We will also guide you on self-guided hikes, which can also be done without a motor, on snowshoes, on forest skis, in a canoe or just by hiking. Our guides are local people or people with excellent local knowledge.

Our main building is the heart of the Wilderness Park. Here you can buy a lunch made from local produce or fill up your water bottle. The reindeer meat, fish and vegetables in our restaurant are mostly from Salla. Berries and mushrooms are picked from Salla area. Rainbow trout comes from the clean-water Naruska river located in northern Salla, pastries from our own kitchen, sauces and juices are locally produced.

In our main building you will also find the Salla National Park Visitor Centre and a wonderful nature exhibition about Salla’s nature and the Salla National Park. The main building is heated with environmentally friendly wood chips. In the main building and the guide kitchen we also sort our waste from plastic to cardboard.

As proof of our impressive environmental work, we have been awarded the international Green Activities certificate and the Sustainable Travel Finland label. We are proud of this and will continue to work for the environment with all our staff.

Green Activities

In 2019, we became the second programme service company in Finland to receive the Green Key certificate. In 2022, we changed the certificate to the international Green Activities certificate, which is more suitable for our programme services.
